August 1, 2011 - The Department of Energy has awarded a $935,000 grant to the SRS Community Reuse Organization’s Nuclear Workforce Initiative, for use by five area colleges and universities to train workers for existing and future nuclear-related and other high technology jobs. Learn More
July 27, 2011 - A recent U.S. Department of Commerce report showed that science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) jobs grew at a faster rate than non-STEM jobs over the last decade, and that growth in STEM jobs is projected to grow at a faster rate (17 percent) than growth in non-STEM jobs (9.8 percent) between 2008 and 2018. July 14, 2011 - The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) notes that the electric power industry will have to replace nearly 100,000 skilled workers—more than 25,000 of them in the nuclear industry—by 2015.
