Fundamentals of Energy

Designed for Grades 6-8, Fundamentals of Energy is a 150-hour course designed to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Energy career cluster. The content includes, but is not limited to: careers in the energy industry; various energy sources; and electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution.

Divided into eight modules with both Teacher and Student Guides, Fundamentals of Energy is correlated to the Next Generation Science Standards, the Common Core, as well STEM connections. The program was piloted in Florida middle schools during the 2015-2016 school year.

The Teacher and Student Guides are FREE to CEWD members and their education partners. There is a curriculum support package that goes with the program, available for approximately $100 from the National Energy Foundation. The packet includes classroom posters, reading materials, Entergist newspapers, and more, that are integrated into a number of the lesson plans. Order the curriculum support package here. Members may also request lesson plans for specific modules should they not desire the full curriculum.
