What are some ways my company can get involved in the Center?

The Center looks to its members for direction on how to meet their needs.  There are several Advisory Councils that members can serve on, including: Executive Council, Communication Council, Education Council, and Workforce Council.

What are the first things I should do as a new member?

Explore the Members-only Section of the website

Find out all of the resources available to you, as described above.

Enter your job locations into the CEWD/Get Into Energy Database

While members cannot post specific positions, they are encouraged to post job locations and link interested parties to their recruiting web sites(s).  Simply go to http://www.cewd.org/jobbased.asp, where you will find instructions along with an online form to do your posting.  Your job locations will be available through the search function on the Center's public site Get Into Energy at www.getintoenergy.com.  You can also link to the Get Into Energy site from your company website.

Get your educational partners on board

As a CEWD member, your company is entitled to sponsor your education partners.  Middle and High Schools, Technical Training Centers, Community Colleges, and four-year institutions can all fall under your company's membership.  Refer to the Guiding Principles for taking advantage of this great member benefit.

These partners can then receive full access to CEWD member resources.  Your partners will also be able to enter their programs into the CEWD Training Database.  To bring your partners on board, simply fill out this form.

Join a State Consortium

Energy companies, education institutions, and workforce boards are joining forces to make a difference in their states.  Many states have created Energy Consortia focused on building the pipeline of new workers.  Check to find out if your state has a state consortium and who the energy industry lead is in your state.  If your state does not have a state consortium, Ann Randazzo, CEWD Director, can help you get one started.  We even have a toolkit with templates to make this easy.

Participate in a CEWD Survey

Workforce Gaps Survey: CEWD conducts an annual gas and electric industry survey to determine the workforce gaps.  This enables members to more accurately conduct their workforce planning activities.  Gas and electric company members are contacted each spring to participate.  The Nuclear Energy Institute conducts a similar survey with nuclear companies every other year.  To find out more about the nuclear survey, contact Carol Berrigan at clb@nei.org.

Member Satisfaction Survey: Periodically, CEWD conducts surveys and focus groups to get feedback on how well the Center is meeting member needs and to solicit ideas for future projects.  Members are contacted via e-mail requesting their participation.
